Es Baluard
MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART
Accessibility Guided tours   Cafeteria Shop
Es Baluard rises up in a privileged location in the city of Palma, and from its vantage point you can catch the best views of the Bay of Palma, with the Gothic Cathedral and the Bellver Castle as the points of reference.

With the initial core of more than 500 works of art, the collection was assembled from the pieces deposited by the four entities that are members of the Consortium of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Palma, founded in 1997: the Ajuntament de Palma (Palma Town Hall), the Consell de Mallorca (Council of Mallorca), the Govern de les Illes Balears (Government of the Balearic Islands) and the Fundació d’Art Serra (Serra Art Foundation). Since 2003 the Es Baluard Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Palma has been the body managing the museum, which houses a varied and select collection of paintings, drawings and sculptures by artists linked to the most significant international trends since the late 19th century, including pieces by authors like Cezanne, Gauguin, Picasso, Miró, Magritte, Polke, Barceló and Schnabel.
